“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.
God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
We love because he first loved us. And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister” (1 John 4:7-21 NIV).
It is hard for us to grasp just how great God is. He speaks and the oceans were formed. He does not need us to help Him prove His majesty, but He chooses to use us in His story anyway. And His greatest desire is to be in relationship with you.
He is Greater, our Creator, and the Word.
“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end” (Ecclesiastes 3:11 NIV).
“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth” (Psalm 46:10 NIV).
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV).
“Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand” (Isaiah 64:8 NIV).
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1 NIV).
“One God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all” (Ephesians 4:6 NIV).
Jesus is both divine and human, the perfect gift sent to us as a deliverer to make us new. He gave His life for us, taking our place, and through His name, makes us right with God.
Jesus, the Son of God and the Servant of God.
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6 NIV).
“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14 NIV).
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16 NIV).
“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12 NIV).
“Yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live” (1 Corinthians 8:6 NIV).
“The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation” (Colossians 1:15 NIV).
Before Jesus ascended to heaven, He promised He would send someone who would teach and guide all those who believe in Him. When you believe in Jesus, the Holy Spirit immediately becomes a part of your life.
The Holy Spirit has many roles. Not only do you receive spiritual gifts according to His will, but He also comforts, teaches, and remains in us as a seal of promise on our hearts until the day of Jesus’ return. Further, the Holy Spirit takes on the role of Guidance and Counselor, revealing the message of wisdom and teaching us what to say in order to speak God’s truth.
The Holy Spirit is alive in us.
“As it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived” - the things God has prepared for those who love him - these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God” (1 Corinthians 2:9-10 NIV) see also Isaiah 64:4
“The Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say” (Luke 12:12 NIV).
“But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you” (John 14:26 NIV).
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27 NIV).
“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control" (Galatians 5:22-23 NIV).
“Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit” (Galatians 5:25 NIV).
EMBRACE WHO GOD IS
A good, good Father who loves you more than you can fathom. Dwelling in you, His Spirit will never prompt you to do anything that contradicts His Word. The more we grow in our knowledge of God’s Word, the more we are able to discern whether or not our desires come from Him. He wants to produce greatness in your life and reveal Himself to others through you.
