Hello, Lovely

Embrace who you are

In the beginning, before God distinguished day from night, He said, “Let there be light”
Genesis 1:3 NIVLucy Celebrates | Embrace Who You Are

We are made, the scriptures assure us, in the image of God. Nothing can change that original goodness. Whatever mistakes we have made in the past, whatever problems we may have in the present, in every one of us this “uncreated spark in the soul” remains untouched, ever pure, ever perfect.

Even if we try with all our might to douse or hide it, it is always ready to set our personality ablaze with light. - Eknath Easwaran (1910–1999), an Indian born spiritual teacher and author, as well as a translator and interpreter of early Hindu texts.

Why would we be afraid to shine? This quote brought me back to one of my favorites by Marianne Williamson:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Genesis 1 tells us that in the beginning, before God made day and night, He said, “Let there be light.”

In John 8:12, Jesus applies the title to himself saying, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

And also in Matthew 5:14-16, Jesus affirms this truth in us, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Light.

The very “light” God separated from darkness and declared good was you, friend. Before you were formed in your mother’s womb, He knew you, set you apart, and had a plan for your existence. You are called into His wonderful light to be the light for others.

Coming full circle, it’s no wonder God’s Word proclaims “Let there be light.” Allow it. Do not "try with all your might to douse or hide it," but set your personality ablaze with it.

Our Father is so good. Speaking everything into existence, He demonstrates the power of words to give life, encouragement, and blessings. He knows what we need to flourish and He showers us with life-giving affirmations throughout His Word. Do not let anything that conflicts with Truth take residence in your heart, but rather, embrace only your true identity, as defined by your Maker. The following is a list of verses that speak to who "you are" taken from the New Testement:

EMBRACE WHO YOU ARE

You don’t need to be anything else but exactly who you are. The more we humbly embrace these truths, the more we are able to courageously and confidently move forward with our purpose and all that God has called us to be.
